Three organisations working every day at the front line of Ireland's homelessness crisis.
Focus Ireland is one of Ireland's leading housing and homelessness charities. Founded in 1985 by Sr Stanislaus Kennedy, it works nationwide to prevent homelessness and support people already without a home into secure accommodation. Through advice services, family and youth supports, tenancy sustainment and its own housing association, Focus Ireland helps thousands of individuals and families every year. Its core belief is that homelessness is wrong and can be ended.
Liberty Soup Run is a volunteer-led grassroots organisation based in The Liberties, Dublin 8. Founded by Christopher O'Reilly, it operates vans and outreach teams several nights a week, providing hot food, clothing, toiletries, sleeping bags and practical support to people sleeping rough and those in vulnerable situations. Entirely funded by public donations and run by volunteers, it also helps families transitioning out of homelessness. Every contribution goes directly to those in need on the streets.
Dublin Homeless Awareness is a young, frontline volunteer group founded by Brandon O'Connor. Operating mainly in Dublin city centre and surrounding areas, its uniformed teams carry out welfare checks, deliver first aid, help people book into emergency accommodation, and connect them with addiction, mental health and other support services. The group focuses on immediate, practical assistance for people on the streets and relies on dedicated young volunteers trained in first aid, safeguarding and crisis response.
